Plans have been submitted to council for the development in and around the old boiler house building, and public marketing is also released.

APMAG has reviewed the document, and discussed it with Glenvill. The plan gives details of the building proposals itself, including retained heritage buildings, façade heights and finishes, as well as traffic planning, footpaths and view lines. A quick summary is below.

Proposed Buildings

Images are provided by the developer in their submission.

The team asked Glenvill what changes they have made as a result of the declining economic forecast. The absolute number of dwellings planned has dropped from 2500 to closer to 2000 across the development, and they have also been changing the mix of dwellings as they see more demand from 1st home buyers for lower price points, and more interest in features like home offices.

Building heights

Building heights are within the DPO guidelines. The main change is splitting the southern building into 2, slightly shorter buildings of townhouses.

Façade style

The façade designs are based on the idea of print rollers, with lots of industrial style finishes

View lines

View lines aim to link the new park to the existing park & riverfront. Planning aims to make the public spaces feel welcoming, open to everyone and not hemmed in or ‘gated’.
