Just greed really. How the monstrosity on the corner was approved I can’t even imagine. To match it with a further row of high buildings will feel like we are in prison. How dare they! It’s not what we signed up for.
I am writing in regards to the additional apartment levels being built on Chandler and am raising my concerns and strongly object to the idea of raising the initial 5-level building to now aiming for 8-10 levels.
A few key concerns for residents around the area that will greatly impact our quality of life at YarraBend:
Privacy Issues
Higher buildings mean we would have folks peaking through our lofts, which only stands at 4/5 levels.
This is a privacy issue as we have rooftop terraces and backyards, which we have paid to enjoy the privacy at our own home.
Congestion Issues
YarraBend and its surrounding estate is already getting very busy and congested, even with not 100% of the residents officially moving in yet.
With higher levels built, it translates to more households and the roads will be even congested.
Air quality and environmental issues would greatly diminish, causing direct & indirect health/environmental problems in the short and long run.
Property Valuation Issues
With more levels in this new apartment, it would mean more competition for us to sell our property in the future.
This will greatly affect our property valuation.
Unfortunately, the idea of building extra levels up just spells ‘GREED’ from these developers, with no concerns about the current and future residents buying into the area. It will be an overpopulated, over-developed estate with zero proper planning and care for current residents.
If we knew that this proposal would have come up when we bought our place, I would have NOT bought my current place here. None of us was told beforehand about these additional levels and none of us signed up for this.
I, alongside our neighbours, STRONGLY OBJECT this idea of raising the initial 5-level building to now aiming for 8-10 levels.
